the Monchy storY chapter 5

Chapter 5

He could hear his first cry when he came out of his mother's womb. He could almost taste the first banana that he had eaten. The first tree that he had climbed. The first word that had came out of his mouth. The first step that he took. The first fight he had with Monkey. The first time he felt jealousy. The first time that he had done anything that stupid and it is going to cause him his life.....

Scenes of the past and present kept coming back to King Kong, like a flim flashing back on his short yet interesting life. Regret flooded his mind. His limbs felt cold and lifeless, his heart dying from helplessness.

King Kong was in the Asian croc's humongous mouth. Never had he felt so hopeless before. Just as he was going to close his eyes and go into eternal sleep forever, something appeared before his very eyes.

The ball of white light was so heavenly and calm that it gave King Kong the strength and curiosity to open his eyes again. Soothing music sounded and came from that light, though it was unknown to King Kong how the ball of light was able to conquer up such brightness and tinkling music. Slowly, as if the ball of light was taking its own time and trying to make King Kong more anxious, it started to gain the form of a woman... a woman so beautiful that only heaven is the place where she could have come from. She had a halo above her head and a pair of wings...(like duh, typical angel looks). King Kong was stunned, and what's more, he was mesmerized.

"What the-..who are you?" stumbled King Kong in awe. Time seemed to have stopped upon the appearance of the angel.

"Do not be afraid, King Kong. I am your guardian angel. I have always been beside you. And now, I am going to help you." answered KK's angel with a voice so sound that King Kong was immediately re-energised.

She raised her hands and touched King Kong's forehead, chanting some magic words which sounded like frog language to King Kong's ear, anyhow, it filled him with hope and the power and will to live on. The angel disappeared upon doing her job and when the last sight of the bright white light dissolved into the murky waters as well, time seemed to have regain.

The Asian croc was about to sink its deadly teeth into King Kong with a mighty snap when King Kong raised his hands and defended himself by holding on to the croc's upper and lower jaws. With strength King Kong has never experienced before, he managed to pushed himself out of the crocs mouth and started to swim towards the surface, towards life from the jaws of death.

"Stop crying Chiono, King Kong will be all right....i think" reassured Chimpy to the tear drenched Chiono.

"But he, he...! WaaaHHh" burst Chiono into another fit of tears.

Just when the silent and shocked crowd started to lose faith in King Kong's return to the surface, he came emerging out of the murky waters and fall onto the ground with exhaustion. Eyes from faces of the crowd blinked in disbelief and relief at the same time. After the crowd had regained from their shock, they immediately let out a tremendous cheer.

"King....King Kong!" shouted Chiono and she quickly ran to his side.

"What?...IMpossible..." uttered Yaya in disbelief, his whole body trembling in anger.

Monkey stood at a side, having a mixture of feelings--jealousy that King Kong had that much attention and yet admiration for him to survive the East Lake as well.

King Kong's mates went to his aid and carried him away to nurse his wounds. He was still choking out water when they reached him and was only semi-conscious. His mates had never seen him so exhuasted before...like as if he had used up all his energy in his body and some from elsewhere too...

"There, I told you he will be okay!" said Chimpy to Chiono. Just when she finished her sentence, Chiono burst out crying again.

"What? Why? Chiono are you okay?" asked the shocked Chimpy.

"I..I..I am just too relief..." sobbed Chiono.

Just when Chimpy was about to give a smart remark, shouts of the Zoo keepers and footsteps could be heard coming towards the East Lake. Apparently, the loud cheer they had given King Kong had woken up the humans. The primates quicky got into action and within seconds, the East Lake was back to its silent atmosphere, with not a soul in sight, except for the crocs deep below the waters...

A slight cloud of black mist was noticed at the spot where Yaya once stood, but before anyone could take a closer look, it dissappeared without leaving a trace.
